The Write Up

Coming in at about $130, this model is still at the pricier end of the spectrum, but still comes in cheaper than the Corsair, so if you’re willing to sacrifice the chassis appearance a little, but still want to maintain quality and style, this could be the one for you!

Enjoy a lifetime of gaming with this robust, mechanical keyboard which has high endurance and holds itself when the gaming action gets intense. This keyboard combines longevity, ease of use, and unabashed brilliance, to produce a gaming keyboard which will be sure to stand the test of time!

From its feature-rich multimedia keyboard, to its detachable wrist rest, this keyboard is a sure match for any serious gamer who values design and functionality. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

Design and Connectivity

You’re in the heat of the action, it’s time to show em who’s boss! The last thing you want to be doing is fumbling around trying to find the right keys. With the HyperX titanium-coloured, textured keycaps that highlight the most important gaming keys, navigating the keyboard will be a breeze. Additionally, anti-ghosting means that you don’t have to worry about keystrokes being lost when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously.

“How could there possibly be more?” You ask. Well, there is!

The HyperX boasts a stunning and unique 18 LED light bar, and showcases a dazzling array of dynamic lighting effects to truly make for a full gaming experience. What’s best is that the keyboard is fully customisable, so you can customise Game Mode, build macros and setup per-key lighting, so your keyboard is personalised just for you.

This almost makes up for the large ‘forehead’ of the keyboard. Nobody likes a big forehead, let’s be honest. Unfortunately, what let the HyperX down is the empty space on the keyboard, which seems somewhat of a waste, and makes the keyboard almost clunky because of its size.

However, it’s solid steel frame means this keyboard is around to stay, and its CHERRY MX mechanical keyswitches, soft-touch coated detachable wrist rest, and quick access buttons for brightness, lighting effects and game mode means you’ll never need a new keyboard again.

Power and Performance

Every millisecond counts in the rapid world of gaming. CHERRY MX mechanical keyswitches, dedicated media buttons and the large volume wheel, means that you can quickly navigate your way around the keyboard. Stable, reliable controls will help you through your most exciting, intense, and heroic quests and battles, meaning that you can come out on top every time!

Strength, stealth, and style is all packaged within this high-performance keyboard, which ensures your inputs are accurate so your hands can move speedily from one key combination to the next.

However, a look into the software highlights some issues. NGenuity is heavy, taking up 1.1GB (YES, GIGABYTES!) of space! And all that allows you to do is control the lighting on the keyboard. Definitely something that HyperX needs to take a look at.

Bottom Line

With prices from $130, it’s a decent way to get Corsair-level lighting for a cheaper price. Unfortunately, Its large size, and thick wire, to some are a bit of an eyesore, and the software is more than a bit of a let-down. They keyboard is pretty easy to navigate, fundamental for gamers needing flash finger speed and has the detachable wrist rest for extra support.

All in all, it’s attractive and fit for use, but otherwise unremarkable, so depending on your budget and what you really want out of your keyboard, it’s worth researching before you buy.

Cons

  • No Macros
  • Lack of USB
  • Lacks the ‘wow factor’ looks wise

The Write Up

At just shy of $185, the price tag can be a bitter pill to swallow. If you’ve managed to pick your jaw off the floor, let us justify that hefty number.

The TKL (Ten Key Less) board is simple, functional, and minimalist and strips away all unnecessary tat to make a small but maximally efficient keyboard for all your gaming needs. It’s durable, fun and easy to use, and is immaculate in design. The initial cost really is a good investment, for a sturdy, strong and resilient keyboard which will keep you gaming for a lifetime.

But really, $185?

Design and Connectivity

Ducky came up with their thinnest ever bezel design, reducing the keyboard size without detrimentally impacting the overall design. Good job guys! The new, minimalist, sleek design looks great! The Ducky One is also designed with two-stage feet, different from the traditional monolithic feet. Users are able to change the angle for keyboard with the choice of three (feet folded, small feet and big feet) so they can find an angle that’s comfortable for them.

Unlike the old model, the Ducky One uses a more commonly used cable; a Micro USB data cable. An added bonus is that the cable and keyboard can be separated, which makes transporting it really easy.

Don’t switch off yet, there’s more…

It’s double-shot key caps are designed and engineered to give users the optimal gaming experience.  The keys decorated with special pattern to achieve the best look and usability all at once!

Better yet, you’re guaranteed a long lifespan on your keyboard! The dual layer PCB design is more durable and reliable than single sided PCB. Which increases the lifespan of the board, and also ensures the signal stability of the keyboard functions. This really is a keyboard you can trust, with a steel back plate and dual layer PCBs the user can enjoy a satisfyingly solid feel with each keystroke.

Power and Performance

As with any decent gaming keyboard, Ducky only uses genuine CHERRY MX key switches, ultimate in their reliability and durability. Available in different switchers, the user can purchase the right keyboard which matches their preferences.

Powered by an ARM M3 micro-controller, which allows advanced functions as well as stunning backlighting effects, the Ducky One is truly magnificent in its sheer force and its pleasing aesthetics.

It’s compact size and TKL option means that everything you need is right in front of you, allowing the keyboard and mouse to sit closer together, and subsequently helping your posture. See, gaming isn’t always so bad for your back and neck!

Bottom Line

Yes, the price tag is a bit of a bombshell. But with all of those dazzling features, surely you can see why. The thought that goes into the design, as well as the underpinning controllers really is worth your cash. You’ll struggle to find a more powerful, beautiful and functionally sound keyboard than this one! Mini but mighty!

Pros

  • Surprisingly good performance although Corsair in a different league when it comes to gaming
  • Easy to use gaming software (Logitech)

  • GREAT price. Great for gamers on a budget

Cons

  • No backlighting 🙁
  • Non-removal wrist rest
  • Wireless is just a no-go for some
  • No USB

The Write Up

With an 18-month battery life and keys built to withstand 70 million keystrokes this wireless keyboard isn’t half bad, and is currently available from $107.

It does, however, miss out some of the best parts about a gaming keyboard such as the absence of key backlighting. Users have also highlighted a few other issues with the layout of the board, including the placement of the G Keys, and the shape and size of the keys themselves.

But before we completely rule it out, let’s take a closer look.

Design and Connectivity

Lagging and disruptions in gameplay is the last thing anybody wants. Especially when you get to that pivotal moment. Your connection cannot let you down.

With lightspeed and Bluetooth connectivity, gamers don’t have to worry at all about latency related issues. Few users have experienced any problems with that at all! Most users have reported zero lag and a brilliant connection. Yay!

The problems really stem from the key design on the keyboard. Whilst one user complained that the G-Keys were poorly placed, the real issue stems from the shape and size of the keys. They are tall, but very narrow, meaning that your accuracy when hitting keys has to be spot on, or else you’ll be smashing all the wrong keys, and pulling all the wrong moves at lightspeed. Not much good for you when you’re trying to battle a Boss and your player is doing cartwheels instead of throwing punches.

The full keyboard is also bloody heavy, and large, even by mechanical keyboard standards. Weighing in at a hefty 1.46kg (with batteries), with dimensions 18.8 inches x 8.5 inches, this isn’t something you want to lug around. However, it’s robust and sturdy nature, means that it’s likely to last you a long time. So maybe the extra weight is worth it for the durability!

Power and Performance

The Logitech keyboard is nothing flashy, but it does what it needs to do. With super responsive ROMER-G Tactile Key Switches, you can be sure that your player won’t be freezing during movement. Combining this with the lightspeed connection means that gameplay will flow without interruption, so you can game on for hours at a time without the annoyance of lagging.

The key spacing however, has seemed to hinder people’s ability to play properly. Which does beg the question, what’s the point in the brilliant connection, if gamers are constantly hitting the wrong keys and are therefore unable to enjoy their experience?

Well, one user suggested that it is just a matter of getting used to the key spacing. So maybe people trying out this new design, are just simply impatient? Definitely take a look at one of these before making a final decision.

Bottom Line

This one seems like a bit of a gamble, and for $107, you have to decide whether it’s worth it. Plenty of user reviews are wholly positive, with people raving about the amazing connection speeds and lack of lagging. The key spaces have proved an issue for some people, but this is probably something to gauge on a personal preference basis.

Product Description: This TKL basic keyboard with custom mechanical switches is ideal for gamers on a tight budget, as it sails in at less than $30! Absolute bargain if you’re willing to sacrifice a designer label and all the fancy stuff that comes with the more expensive options. Size (Full/TKL): TKL

Pros

  • EXCELLENT price for what you get
  • Extremely reliable
  • Reasonable performance
  • Built like an actual tank

Cons

  • Lacks NUMPAD
  • No macros / limited features

The Write Up

As you can see from the specs, the Redragon is nothing to rave about. It’s the bare basics, but you get what you pay for. It’s a simple, but functional keyboard that isn’t flashy, but it does the job.

For first time gamers, or those of us who hate giving away our cash, this is a pretty safe option that won’t break the bank. It’s unlikely to match up to bigger, more expensive brands, but you can still expect a decent performance.

Unspectacular, largely unremarkable, yet functional. It has the bare minimum to get you by.

Design and Connectivity

The board uses outemu blue switches, equivalents of Cherry MX Blues but without the price tag. Size-wise, it’s nothing out of the ordinary. It’s all round pretty standard. As with all TKL boards, it has no wrist wrest so if you’re a gamer that frequently games for hours on end and through the night, it’s definitely worth investing in a wrist rest!

It looks pretty nice and feels nice on the finger tips, with that satisfying clickety clack of the keyboard we all love (unless you hate noisy keyboards, in which case AVOID AT ALL COSTS). It’s also not one to use in the office (do not be that person).

The red backlighting, although not RGB, is satisfactory: not too bright, but just intense enough to make a difference.

Power and Performance

The chassis is pretty sturdy for the price you’re paying, and is therefore built to withstand a beating (a mild one). The plastic on the keys are a little thin which really lets you feel the lesser quality of the keys whilst you’re playing. Thicker keys would give the keyboard a better feel. But they do the job.

However, despite the actuation of the keys being a bit, well questionable, most users have suggested that the keys are great for quick typing and rapid key presses, so you can be confident when gaming that they keyboard is registering your key combos. The tactile response of the switches feels excellent, which is Important for fast paced and enjoyable gaming!

Bottom Line

At $30-$50 it’s nothing legendary or flashy by any stretch of the imagination. But Redragon have given you a sturdy, basic mechanical keyboard for a fraction of the price of the bigger brands.

It doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. It’s unremarkable but it does the damn job. What more can you expect from $30!? You want more, you pay for it. Simple.

But this option gives everyone the option to buy a mechanical keyboard, and not just those who have money to burn.

Titan Score:  7.9/10
